Improvements for Jun in Vietnam

One of the projects we are a part of has hit Vietnam’s news this week, with reports about newly built efencing that triples the size of an enclosure for one of the elephants at the Dak Lak Elephant Conservation Centre (ECC).

Jun is housed at the ECC in Vietnam. The centre works to oversea the management of captive elephant populations in Vietnam and helps protect the country’s wild elephant population.

The Wild Welfare team is thrilled to see Jun having access to a much larger and natural enclosure and know it is down to the hard work of the ECC team, with help from Animals Asia who facilitated the build.

Jun lives at the centre with another elephant, nine-month-old Gold, and with the help from the Vietnam Elephant Initiative (VEI), a project we co-founded, they both benefit from ongoing expert resources, practical advice and veterinary treatment.

A huge well done goes to ECC, Animals Asia and the rest of the VEI team for this recent development and for everything they do for Jun and Gold.
