Capybara are the largest species of rodent in the world and can be found in South America. They live in forest, savannah and marshland habitats and are well adapted to life in the water.
Typical of rodents, their teeth are continuously growing and their diet consists of grasses, as well as their own poo (known as coprophagia).
Their population numbers are stable and they are classed as a least concern species according to the IUCN.
