Wild Welfare is incredibly grateful for your support, your help is crucial in making sure we can work towards improving welfare for more captive wild animals around the world.

As someone who engages with Wild Welfare, your trust is really important to us. We care about your privacy and have therefore put policies in place to ensure we do our best to respect your privacy and keep your personal information safe.

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, this privacy policy tells you what to expect when Wild Welfare collects personal information.

How we may use your information

Wild Welfare will not give or sell your personal information to other organisations for them to use in their own marketing activities.

The legal basis that we rely on for processing your data will, in most cases fall into one of the following categories:

  • where you have provided your consent to allow us to use your data in a certain way, such as send you newsletters
  • where the processing is necessary to carry out communication or contract duties with you. 
  • where the processing is necessary in order for us to comply with a legal obligation; or
  • where it is in our legitimate interests such as donations, administrative communications that help deliver our charitable purposes.  
 Other Use of Data

On occasion we may also use your personal information to improve our services and demonstrate your support of our charity, for example as testimonials on our website. We will always obtain your prior consent before using your data in this way.

Our Donors and Supporters

If you support us by making a donation, we will collect your name and contact details as a minimum. We may, on occasion collect further data such as your motivation to support us to deliver our charitable objectives. 

We will only use the information you provide us to give you the services or information you have asked for, exciting news we think may be of interest to you, monthly and annual reports, or to send you a letter of thanks. 

We may also send you administrative communications, for example confirming a direct debit instruction when you have made a donation to us.

Online donations and payments

To make an online donation or payment by direct debit or payment card, you will be directed to a payment gateway which uses security features and encryption to ensure your data remains safe. We use the CAF Donate payment gateway. 

CAF will use, retain and disclose your personal and credit card details for this purpose and as set out in their privacy policy HERE, including transferring your data outside of the European Economic Area. Where such transfer occurs, Wild Welfare ensures your data is adequately protected under UK data protection law.

Marketing communications

Where you give us your consent, we will also use your personal data in order to send you marketing and fundraising communications in connection with the following marketing and fundraising activities and services:

  • Supporter updates – including our newsletters, thank yous, annual reports, quarterly reports, other publications informing you about our ongoing work.
  • Appeals and fundraising activities – including requests for donations, fundraising opportunities and updates on the impact that your fundraising activities have had on our work.
  • Programmes –  information about our programme activities, including how you can support them or get involved. 
Partners

If you are an official or unofficial partner of Wild Welfare, working with us to support our field projects, we will use your data information for appropriate and relevant communication. We will only share your data with third parties with your permission. 

Newsletters

We use the online platform Mailchimp to provide our supporter newsletters. If you have signed up to our newsletter you have opted in to consent for us to use your data as outlined on this page. Your data will not be shared, viewed, sold or rented to any third party. Newsletter recipients are stored on our Mailchimp account and recipients are able to opt out of receiving information if they wish. You can view Mailchimp’s Privacy Policy HERE.

Help us keep our records up to date by telling us when your contact details and other personal information changes. You can also change your mind at any time about how we contact you or ask us to stop contacting you altogether.
If you request to receive no further contact from us, we will keep the information we hold on you but ensure that you do not receive unwanted materials in the future.
