Lions can be found throughout Africa. They are obligate carnivores and are the only species of cat to live in a social group.
Lions benefit from large amounts of space with opportunities for resting in an elevated position and enrichment which encourages play and claw use.
They are classed as vulnerable and are at risk from poaching and habitat decline due to agricultural activity and human encroachment.
