Tayra are a member of the mustelid family and can be found throughout central and south America. They are omnivores so have a very varied and opportunistic diet.
Tayra benefit from a complex and continually changing environment which promotes exploratory behaviours. Climbing structures are hugely important for this species.
They are classed as least concern and are at risk from habitat loss for agriculture.
