Walk Around The World For Animal Welfare

How far would you walk to help animals in need?

There are an estimated 10,000 captive wild animal facilities worldwide, a significant number of which have poor welfare standards resulting in the suffering of thousands of animals every day.

To help change this, you can take part in our virtual challenge event, either as an individual or as part of a team. Simply walk as far as you can every day for the month of June to see if the collective distance of all our welfare warriors can equate to a virtual walk around the world. Alternatively, if participants can’t walk every day, miles can be clocked up at the weekends or even during a single day event.

Participants can track their daily distance using Strava and challenge themselves to walk further than they have ever done before! Along the way, we will reach virtual milestones across the globe, including the Spanish primate sanctuary where the charity recently supported a chimpanzee relocation, and a Japanese Bear Park where we have been working to improve the lives of the animals.

Lace up your boots and put your best foot forward to help animals in need.

Wild Welfare relies solely on donations to fund our work and the generosity of our supporters like you. All funds raised from this event will go towards our vital projects improving captive animal welfare around the world. To date we have supported over 785 captive facilities, trained over 4,000 people in animal care and welfare concepts and had an impact with our animal welfare work in over 45 countries. The need for our work to improve animal welfare around the world is growing and we’d love you to get involved by joining in this event and helping us to help animals.

Every mile you make and every donation you take will help improve animal welfare:

£5 will help us carry out a thorough welfare assessment for one animal in captivity

£10 helps with translation of educational resources to share with a facility such as a zoo, aquarium, or sanctuary.

£20 helps us develop animal welfare and enrichment toolkits that teach animal care staff compassionate practices

Take up the challenge this summer and walk around the world for animals

Get involved today! Although the event doesn’t start until June, you can sign up and start fundraising right away.
