Animal Welfare in Thailand with ZPO

Wild Welfare were in Thailand recently, following an invite from the Zoological Park Organization (ZPO).

We were visiting three of ZPO’s seven member facilities, supporting continued efforts to make animal welfare improvements across the zoos. ZPO’s team has already implemented a number of key management practices that support improvements in animal care, and we were able to discuss future initiatives that can support continued improvements.

From animal shows and interactions, veterinary care, enrichment programmes and species-specific management, our team spent two full days discussing programmes that member zoos can take forward.

More to follow, but a special thanks to the ZPO team, their hospitality and company where fantastic and infectious, and we are looking forward to visiting Thailand again soon and to developing an ongoing and constructive partnership with our ZPO colleagues!
