Travel company ends elephant polo in Nepal
We are thrilled to hear the announcement from Tiger Tops travel company in Nepal, saying they will be ending their elephant polo tournaments after more than 30 years.
Wild Welfare does not condone riding activities involving captive wild animals or their use in an entertainment setting such as this. The training required for these activities is often a source of stress and asking animals to perform unnatural behaviours can significantly compromise their welfare.
We welcome the announcement by Tiger Tops and hope other similar groups follow its lead – the sport of elephant polo is also common in Sri Lanka and Thailand.
